BRNO, Czech Republic -- Honeywell announced the opening of its Turbo Technologies Engineering and Test Center in Brno, Czech Republic, today. The new turbocharger R&D Center is the fifth facility in the global technical network for Honeywell, the world's largest manufacturer of automotive turbochargers.
The facility houses integrated engineering and research services developing and validating the next generation of advanced turbochargers for both commercial and passenger vehicle applications.
"The trend towards energy-efficient turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines around the world is accelerating rapidly, and Honeywell is continuing to invest to meet that demand," said Adriane Brown, President and CEO, Honeywell Transportation Systems.
Honeywell expects global sales for turbochargers to grow from 29 percent of the overall automotive segment to more than 38 percent by 2012 as automakers look to boost engines to help increase fuel-efficiency and reduce harmful exhaust emissions without sacrificing performance.
Honeywell's Turbo Technology business consists of ten major manufacturing and five engineering sites throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia.
