PEIORIA, Ill. (AP) — Construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. said Monday it named Janie Copeland to the newly created position of chief accounting officer.
Copeland, who begins the role Dec. 1, has served as corporate financial reporting manager for Caterpillar's global finance and strategic support division since 2002. She joined Caterpillar in 1987 as an accountant.
The new position will help strengthen Caterpillar's governance of financial reporting, David Burritt, the company's chief financial officer, said in a statement.
Shares of Caterpillar fell 40 cents to $79.90 in premarket trading.
