ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — Medical device maker Clarient Inc. said Thursday it named Dr. Michael J. Pellini chief operating officer, and two of its senior executives are resigning.
Pellini, 41, is the vice president of life sciences at Safeguard Scientifics. Before that, he was the chief operating officer at Lakewood Pathology Associates Inc., a Lakewood, N.J.-based national anatomical pathology company.
Clarient said that Pellini will remain on its board of directors. The company also said it expects Pellini's tenure as COO to last through the second quarter of 2008.
Additionally, Clarient said Karen K. Garza, senior vice president of strategic planning and business development, and Jose de la Torre-Bueno, senior vice president and chief technology officer, will leave the company after an interim consulting period.
Shares of Clarient closed at $2.30 Wednesday.
