Dems Plan Summit To Address "Manufacturing Crisis"

Michigan Senator aims to "level the playing field."

Democrats in the U.S. Senate plan to host a one-day manufacturing summit in Washington later this year, according to a report in The Detroit News.

Speaking with Michigan reporters Monday, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow said the summit will focus on creating a “level playing field” for American companies competing in a global economy.

According to the report, Stabenow said the Democratic takeover of the Senate will mean a more intense focus on the “manufacturing crisis.” Stabenow also told reporters she will reintroduce her bill to create a U.S. trade prosecutor, whose job it will be to address unfair trade practices by foreign countries.
