Transforming Supply Chains

With over 3,000 employees and an annual output of some 2 million tons of premium steel products, NatSteel will utilize Quintiq’s software to address the complexities of its supply chain.

QuintiqNatSteel Holdings is implementing Quintiq’s Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) solutions at its flagship plant in Singapore. With over 3,000 employees and an annual output of some 2 million tons of premium steel products for the construction industry in the region, NatSteel will utilize Quintiq’s software to address the complexities of its supply chain and optimize several of the top steel provider’s operational functions.

Tan Man Ee, Chief Supply Chain Officer of NatSteel Holdings (NSH), said, “We wanted to transform our overall supply chain. We reviewed several APS providers, and Quintiq’s solutions and strong expertise in the steel industry made it an obvious choice for us.”

Tan cited flexibility as the key feature of Quintiq’s software. “In the Proof of Concept exercise, Quintiq demonstrated its unrivalled ability to be flexible enough to address the complex requirements of NatSteel’s highly dynamic operations.”

NatSteel decided to invest in Quintiq’s solutions in March 2011, and the implementation is now being executed in phases. “The Macro Planner and Company Planner solutions have gone live, the Upstream and Downstream Scheduler implementations are currently in progress, and the Logistics Planner will soon commence. Based upon the success of these implementations, we will consider rolling out the solutions to our other sites outside of Singapore.”
