Nissan Unveils New Self-Repairing Car Paint

Nissan Motor Co. has unveiled a new car paint that repairs its own scratches and scrapes.

Nissan Motor Co. has unveiled a new car paint that repairs its own scratches and scrapes. With Scratch Guard Coat, minor scuffs disappear in about a week. The clear paint was developed by Nissan and Nippon Paint Co., according to Kiyoshi Ariga, a company spokesman.

The coatings, which Nissan says is the first of its kind, contains elastic resin, similar to a rubbery surface, and can repair itself of slight scratches caused by car washing, off-road driving and fingernails.
