GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management has agreed to make a 1,200-acre tract next to Kiewit Mining Group Inc.'s Buckskin Mine available for a coal lease.

The bureau says the 1,253-acre tract has 167 million tons of mineable coal. The Gillette News Record reports Kiewit had applied for the lease in 2006, so it could extend the life of the mine by about 10 years.

The BLM said Wednesday that a date for the coal lease sale hadn't been set yet.
