Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Signs Generator Deal

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said a subsidiary has been awarded a contract to replace an electric generator at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said Wednesday a subsidiary has been awarded a contract by Constellation Energy Nuclear Group to replace an electric generator at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, N.Y.

Mitsubishi didn't say exactly how much the contract was worth, except that it was a "multi-million dollar" deal. The contract is part of a generator replacement project valued at $50 million.

The subsidiary, Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc., is based in Lake Mary, Fla., and provides a variety of services for the electric power generation industry. As part of the deal, Mitsubishi will install a new electrical generator and triggering system while the generator is idled for maintenance.

Constellation, based in Baltimore, owns and operates five nuclear reactors in New York and Maryland.
