NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A company that makes prefabricated homes will start production this year of small wind turbines at its plant in North Charleston.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Titan-Atlas Manufacturing plans to add the wind turbine production plant this fall. As many as 250 jobs could be added.

The company also makes wind turbines in Canada.

The small turbines are installed on rooftops or poles and supplement other energy sources.

The plant is not connected with the Clemson University wind turbine testing facility at the old Charleston Naval Base.
