Hoku Corp. Names Yin President

The solar energy products and services company said Monday Xiaoming Yin has been appointed president.

HONOLULU (AP) -- Hoku Corp. said Monday Xiaoming Yin has been appointed president of the solar energy products and services company.

Yin, known by the first name Jeremy, will report to Scott Paul, who will remain as chief executive.

Yin previously was founder and managing director of private equity firm SinoTransPacific Ventures, and a founding member and vice president of LightCross Inc., which was merged with Arroyo Optics to form Kotura Inc. in 2005.

Yin has a bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China, a master's degree in business administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a doctorate in semiconductor physics from the City University of New York.

Hoku Corp. has three divisions. Hoku Materials plans to make and sell plysilicon for the solar market from its Pocatello, Id., factory. Hoku Solar sells and install solar generating systems in Hawaii. And Hoku Fuel Cells has developed electrode assemblies for hydrogen fuel cells.

Shares of Hoku slipped 5 cents Monday to close at $1.95.
