ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Wind power advocates hope to whip up greater use of the renewable energy source by promoting it on products made using the technology.
Wind turbine maker Vestas, conservation group WWF and the Global Wind Energy Council trade group are among the backers of a new consumer product label called "WindMade" announced Tuesday at a renewable energy conference in Abu Dhabi.
They aim to drive further development of wind power plants by convincing consumer product manufacturers to use the clean-energy source.
They say products verifiably made with power produced from wind turbines would be able to bear the "WindMade" label.
