FuelCell Energy Announces New Plant

Power plant construction company FuelCell Energy Inc. said Monday it will build a 2.8 megawatt facility outside a wastewater treatment plant in California.

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) -- Power plant construction company FuelCell Energy Inc. said Monday it will build a 2.8 megawatt facility outside a wastewater treatment plant in California.

FuelCell said the plant will be built for Inland Empire Utilities Agency, a municipal water district based in Chino, California. The new plant's primary fuel source will be biogas created by the wastewater plant.

The company did not disclose financial details.

FuelCell specializes in building alternative energy plants. The company will service the California power plant under a long term contract. The unit is expected to be operational in early 2012.

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency is a municipal water district located in western San Bernardino County, California. It supplies imported drinking water and processes wastewater.
