Work Begins On Turbine Factory In Iowa

The plant is expected to produce 250 turbines in 2008 and 400 turbines in 2009 and employ approximately 110 people.

WEST BRANCH, Iowa (AP) - Construction has started on a wind turbine factory near West Branch, Iowa.
 
Acciona Energy North America broke ground on the $25 million facility Wednesday morning. Officials expect it to be completed by the end of the year.
 
Acciona, which designs and manufactures wind turbine components, will hire 110 people to run the plant. It will be the company's first assembly factory in North America.
 
Company officials said they plan to produce 250 turbines in 2008 and 400 turbines in 2009.
