Wal-Mart has fired a shot across Amazon's bow with the expansion of its free two-day shipping program.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Wal-Mart is expanding its free two-day shipping program to any U.S. customer and seeking to list far more items on its website.
The move would put Wal-Mart in direct competition with Amazon's popular Prime program, putting Wal-Mart in contention for more online retail business.
According to the Journal, Wal-Mart's U.S. sales growth has slowed, which makes the move to more ecommerce all the more important.
Wal-Mart is reportedly investing $2 billion in its digital and online efforts.
