SOCMA’s National Chemical Safety Symposium

National and local authorities on process and occupational safety will be presenting the latest trends and methodologies used in the industry today to create a safe and secure manufacturing environment.

SOCMA’s ChemStewards® Program will once again host the National Chemical Safety Symposium in Houston, Texas, on October 20th and 21st. National and local authorities on process and occupational safety will be presenting the latest trends and methodologies used in the industry today to create a safe and secure manufacturing environment.

The Symposium’s featured speakers will be Dr. Thomas M. Connelly, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the American Chemical Society and former Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer for DuPont, and Dr. M. Sam Mannan, Chemical Engineering Department Regents Professor, Holder of the T. Michael O'Connor I Chair and Director of the Mary K. O’Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University. Also included on the agenda will be professionals from industry, government and academia. An expert industry panel will discuss new techniques designed to address plant safety.

The primary topics to be covered will be process safety, occupational safety and operational excellence, by way of presentations, panels, networking and Q&A discussions.

In conjunction with the Symposium, on Tuesday, October 20th, process safety expert Jerry L. Jones of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) will facilitate a workshop covering “Process Safety Incident Warning Signs,” followed by an evening reception.
