Spartan Motors Gets Order For 22 Truck Chassis

Unit of Spartan Motors Inc. said on Tuesday that the Beijing Fire Department ordered 22 of its Metro Star pumper chassis for fire trucks.

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) -- Spartan Motors Chassis Inc., a unit of Spartan Motors Inc., said on Tuesday that the Beijing Fire Department ordered 22 of its Metro Star pumper chassis for fire trucks.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the company said it was the largest order it has received from China since it began doing business there in 2002.

The contract calls for Spartan to deliver chassis to W.S. Darley & Co. in Itasca, Ill., which will add the body and pump systems to the trucks. The trucks are scheduled for delivery in the second and third quarters.

Spartan Motors shares rose 25 cents, or 4.3 percent, to $6.12 in midday trading. The stock has ranged from $1.31 to $11.75 over the past year.
