A corrugated packaging manufacturer withdrew a proposal for a factory in Greenwood, Indiana, following public feedback.
The site plan from Saica Pack USA included a request to rezone about 42.7 acres of residential land.
Residents voiced their opposition with a petition that collected over 115 signatures.
The Daily Journal, a local publication, cited residents who said they did not want the land to become industrial.
Saica planned to invest approximately $100 million in the proposed 390,000-square-foot facility.
According to city documents, the proposed location would have employed nearly 100 full-time workers with average hourly wages of $39.86.
The facility reportedly would have been used for producing corrugated boxes and not as a paper mill.
An attorney for Saica said the company was still considering the next steps for the project.
