Structure Fire Reveals Illegal Cannabis Lab

The investigation uncovered 1,000 pounds of illegally-processed marijuana on the premises.

A structure fire uncovered a suspected butane honey oil cannabis concentrate laboratory in Medford, Oregon.

The sheriff’s office reportedly found a large amount of cannabis and butane honey oil processing equipment while assisting with the fire.

An Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) investigation located 1,000 pounds of processed marijuana on the premises.

The location did not have a license for cannabis growth, handling or processing.

A county detective also spotted and detained two males attempting to flee the scene.

One of the suspects, 34-year-old Tarlon Smith, was charged with three felonies, including arson, unlawful manufacture and unlawful possession.

The second suspect was released pending charges and was not named.

Possession and use of recreational marijuana have been legal in Oregon since July 1, 2015.
