Taxi Company Pulls Teslas After Deadly Crash

Reports indicated that the car accelerated when the driver attempted to brake.

One of Parisโ€™ top taxi companies removed dozens of Tesla vehicles from service after an off-duty driver was involved in a deadly crash over the weekend.

French media reports, according to Reuters, indicated that the driver was en route to a restaurant with his family when the accident occurred.

The G7 taxi service said that the Model 3 accelerated when the driver attempted to brake. The vehicle hit a cyclist and three pedestrians before crashing into a van.

One person was killed and 20 injured, seven seriously.

G7 said it would suspend 37 Model 3s, pending completion of a police investigation.

Tesla reportedly ruled out a technical malfunction. It was unclear whether its Autopilot system was activated at the time of the accident.

The EV maker, which disbanded its public relations department, did not respond to the Reuters report.
