TOKYO, Sept. 17 (Kyodo) — Honda Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. on Monday both announced the halt to operations at their auto assembly plants in China, amid anti-Japan protests in the country triggered by Japan's nationalization of a group of islets in the East China Sea claimed by China.
Honda will halt operations at its five vehicle assembly plants in China on Tuesday and Wednesday, company officials said, saying the move was aimed at adjusting shipments.
Mazda plans to close its vehicle assembly plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, for four days through Friday, Mazda officials said.
