SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — A diesel-engine manufacturer is expected to create at least 120 jobs with a planned assembly plant in Surprise.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/MpxLG2) reports officials in the west Phoenix suburb unveiled plans Tuesday for Southwest Products Corps. to relocate there.
Surprise officials say the company was drawn to $220,000 in city-issued incentives. They include permit-fee waivers and development-fee reimbursements.
The company is the most recent of several mid-size employers to settle in Surprise.
Southwest Products will initially hire 90 people with plans to add 30-70 more positions.
The 165,000-square-foot plant is expected to open in fall 2013. The facility will serve as the company's headquarters and main distribution and manufacturing hub.
