Diesel-Engine Maker To Relocate To Surprise, Ariz.

Southwest Products Corps. will initially hire 90 people to work in the 165,000-square-foot plant, which is expected to open in fall 2013.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — A diesel-engine manufacturer is expected to create at least 120 jobs with a planned assembly plant in Surprise.

The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/MpxLG2) reports officials in the west Phoenix suburb unveiled plans Tuesday for Southwest Products Corps. to relocate there.

Surprise officials say the company was drawn to $220,000 in city-issued incentives. They include permit-fee waivers and development-fee reimbursements.

The company is the most recent of several mid-size employers to settle in Surprise.

Southwest Products will initially hire 90 people with plans to add 30-70 more positions.

The 165,000-square-foot plant is expected to open in fall 2013. The facility will serve as the company's headquarters and main distribution and manufacturing hub.
