PPG Gets $1.2M BAE Contract

Company said it received a $1.2 million contract from BAE Systems to make special transparent shields that protect gunners on U.S. Marine Corps tactical vehicles.

SYLMAR, Calif. (AP) -- PPG Industries Inc. said Monday it received a $1.2 million contract from BAE Systems Inc. to make special transparent shields that protect gunners on U.S. Marine Corps tactical vehicles.

The transparencies are being made at PPG's facility in Sylmar, and the company has started delivering them to BAE Systems U.S. Combat Systems plant in Louisville, Ky.

PPG shares fell 49 cents to $61.97 in midday trading Monday.
