LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Industry representatives are meeting in Las Vegas to discuss how to create moremanufacturing jobs in the U.S.
The imX manufacturing summit Monday features newly appointed Chief Manufacturing Officer Michael Molnar with the federal commerce department, speaking about the Obama administration's efforts to boost the industry.
Molnar began his tenure as chief manufacturing officer in August 2011. He works with the National Institute of Standards and Technology within the commerce department, and helps shape policy affecting manufacturing.
The imX manufacturing summit is organized by eight machine tool manufacturers and two national industry associations.
Event organizers say a healthy U.S. manufacturing industry is critical to the economy's recovery.
