ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Defense contractor BAE Systems PLC said Tuesday that it has won a $108.4 million contract modification to provide 45 vehicles and parts for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
The contract calls for it to provide 29 of the M88A2 Hercules vehicles to the Army and 16 to the Marines, beginning in April 2013 and running through December 2013.
The work will be done with current workforces at plants in York, Pa., and Aiken, S.C.
The Hercules is an armored vehicle used to maintain and recover battle tanks in the field.
BAE Systems said the latest modification brings its Hercules contract awards to $1.4 billion. So far, 394 Hercules vehicles have been fielded, compared with Army requirements for 607 vehicles.
