GE Buys Commtest

General Electric Co. said that it has acquired Commtest, a company that designs and makes systems to monitor the health of machinery.

MINDEN, Nev. (AP) -- General Electric Co. said Friday that it has acquired Commtest, a company that designs and makes systems to monitor the health of machinery.

Commtest will be integrated into GE Energy's Bently Nevada product line, which provides machinery protection and condition monitoring for refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants and wind farms.

Commtest, based in Christchurch, New Zealand, makes vibration analysis and monitoring equipment used to detect early signs of impending machine failure.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
