Colgate-Palmolive Completes $952M Sanex Deal

Colgate-Palmolive Co. said it has completed its $952 million purchase of the personal care brand Sanex from Unilever PLC.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Colgate-Palmolive Co. has completed its $952 million purchase of the personal care brand Sanex from Unilever PLC, the company said Monday.

The deal strengthens Colgate's positions in the shower gel, deodorant and personal care business in Europe.

Colgate-Palmolive makes other personal care brands such as Softsoap, Irish Spring and Tom's of Maine. It sells its products in over 200 countries and territories around the world.

Shares of the company rose $1.23 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $89.18 in afternoon trading.
