GE To Acquire FMC-Tech

General Electric Co. said Tuesday it agreed to acquire FMC-Tech, an Irish company that monitors power lines.

NEW YORK (AP) -- General Electric Co. said Tuesday it agreed to acquire FMC-Tech, an Irish company that monitors power lines.

GE did not disclose terms of the deal, which is expected to close in July. It said FMC-Tech provides information to utilities that can be used to find faults in a power grid and help manage maintenance and repair crews. FMC-Tech will remain in Shannon, Ireland.

Shares of General Electric fell 27 cents to $19.12 in afternoon trading.
