Cummins Unit Raising Prices

Cummins Power Generation Inc. is raising the price of its commercial diesel-powered generator sets by up to 2 percent starting in August.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Cummins Power Generation Inc. is raising the price of its commercial diesel-powered generator sets by up to 2 percent starting in August.

The company said Tuesday that the price increases are because of rising gas prices, foreign exchange issues and other market conditions.

Cummins Power Generation is a unit of engine maker Cummins Inc.

Last month Cummins reported that its first-quarter net income more than doubled on higher revenue fueled by strong international sales and a recovering truck market in North America.

Shares of Cummins fell 46 cents to $104.51 in afternoon trading.
