Daimler's February Car Sales Up 10 Percent

Germany's Daimler AG says its February car sales rose by 10 percent on the year, with growth strongest in China.

BERLIN (AP) -- Germany's Daimler AG says its February car sales rose by 10 percent on the year from 72,100 to 79,500 units.

The maker of Mercedes-Benz cars said Thursday growth was strongest in China, where sales rose by 77 percent from 7,300 to 12,200 vehicles.

The company said growth in February was also driven by strong sales of its S-Class luxury sedans worldwide, which were up by 26 percent to 5,000 units.

It said overall sales in Germany remained flat at some 15,000 units, and they rose by four percent to 15,500 in the U.S.

The statement said February marked the company's 16th month of consecutive double-digit growth in overall sales.
