Turkish Airlines Orders Airbus Jets

Turkish Airlines has ordered 13 more Airbus aircraft, enlarging its fleet of midsize passenger jets and cargo planes.

PARIS (AP) -- Turkish Airlines has ordered 13 more Airbus aircraft, enlarging its fleet of midsize passenger jets and cargo planes.

The European aircraft manufacturer announced on Tuesday in a statement that the Turkish company purchased 10 A321 planes and three A330-200F cargo planes.

The planes should be delivered in 2013. The price of the contract has not yet been detailed but according to catalog list prices, the planes cost close to $1.6 billion.

Turkish Airlines ordered 27 Airbus planes in 2009 and 2010. The contract is still in progress.

The new aircraft will join Turkish Airlines' existing fleet of 75 Airbus planes.
