TROY, Mich. (AP) -- PPG Industries Inc. said Thursday it will hike prices and implement surcharges for its electrocoat primer line of transportation coatings and related products as early as May 1.
The company, which makes specialty coatings for the automotive and other industries, said global demand, capacity constraints, outages and other factors have led to higher costs for raw materials such as epoxy resins and titanium dioxide.
The higher materials costs prompted the price increases, PPG said.
Shares added 3 cents to $87.19 in aftermarket trading after rising $1.64 to $87.16 during the regular session.
