IDI Composites Acquires Jet Moulding Compounds

IDI Composites International announced its acquisition of Jet Moulding Compounds, Inc., a manufacturer of high-performance thermoset molding compounds.

NOBLESVILLE, IN -- IDI Composites International (IDI) of Noblesville, Indiana USA announced today its acquisition of Jet Moulding Compounds, Inc. of Ajax, Ontario, Canada, a manufacturer of high-performance thermoset molding compounds. Jet’s compounds are used in a variety of markets, including electrical, automotive, military, and heavy equipment.

IDI Composites is the premier global formulator and manufacturer of thermoset molding compounds for custom molders and OEMs. The company provides customized polyester/vinylester-based Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC), Sheet Molding Compounds (SMC), and Continuous Impregnated Compounds (CIC) for the world's most demanding markets, including automotive/truck, aerospace, electrical, food service, alternate energy, and appliance.

BMC and SMC are ideal materials for applications where exceptional dielectric and structural properties, resistance to heat and corrosion, and ease of finishing are paramount. In electrical applications, for instance, thermoset composites provide exceptional dielectric and thermal properties for traditional switchgear, switches, and circuit breakers. In heavy truck applications, they dramatically enhance performance and longevity of internal valve covers and external structural panels.

This acquisition makes IDI Composites the largest supplier of high-performance thermoset molding compounds in the world, and greatly enhances the company's manufacturing output. The acquisition also means faster turnaround for IDI's expanding global customer base, due to the relatively short shelf life of thermoset products, and increases the company’s global customer base.

Commenting on the acquisition, IDI Vice President & General Manager Tom Flood said, "We are aggressively expanding our presence in the high-performance products market. This acquisition will speed that process, and will enhance our growing global customer base.”

Jet Moulding Compounds, Inc. will continue to operate as an independent entity of IDI Holdings, Inc. through 2011 in Ajax, Ontario. IDI will begin working with Jet Moulding Compounds immediately on a managed consolidation into their Noblesville, IN manufacturing facility.
