Airgas Signs Supply Deal With Linc Group

Company signed a three-year deal with The Linc Group and will be responsible for providing industrial gases, medical gases and welding consumables.

RADNOR, Pa. (AP) -- Airgas Inc. said Wednesday that it signed a three-year deal with The Linc Group and will be responsible for providing industrial gases, medical gases and welding consumables.

Terms were not disclosed.

Abby Greene, The Linc Group national purchasing director, said in a statement that Airgas has locations close to its customer sites and can help manage its supply chain in a more cost-effective manner.

The Linc Group is a technical building services provider based in Irvine, Calif.

Earlier this month, Air Products & Chemicals Inc. extended the expiration date of its tender offer for the outstanding common shares of rival Airgas to Feb. 4. The company is offering $70 per share for all outstanding shares as it continues its quest to take over Airgas. The prior deadline was Jan. 14.

In December, Airgas rejected the $5.88 billion acquisition offer, which was a 7 percent hike from its prior bid. Air Products has been trying to buy Airgas since October 2009.

Shares of Airgas, based in Radnor, Pa., added 11 cents to $63.06 in afternoon trading.
