Harman Gets $1.2 Billion Volkswagen Contract

High-end speaker and headphone maker received a six-year, $1.2 billion contract from Volkswagen to provide multimedia systems for its newest cars.

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) -- High-end speaker and headphone maker Harman International Industries Inc. said Monday it received a six-year, $1.2 billion contract from automaker Volkswagen AG to provide multimedia systems for its newest cars.

The systems will include navigation, Internet access, a DVD drive and audio turner among other features.

Volkswagen's brands include Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen.

Shares of Harman climbed 55 cents to $47.95 in after-hours trading.
