CHINO, Calif. (AP) -- Food maker Hormel Foods Corp.'s joint venture MegaMex has agreed to acquire Don Miguel Foods Corp., which makes Mexican flavored appetizers, snacks and other items.
Financial terms were undisclosed. The deal is expected to close in October.
MegaMex Managing Director Luis G. Marconi said the deal will allow MegaMex to expand further into convenience stores, club stores and supermarkets.
MegaMex is Hormel's joint venture with Mexican food company Herdez Del Fuerte SA.
Hormel shares fell 8 cents to $44.25 in midday trading.
