Daimler Says No Talks On Iveco

CEO Dieter Zetsche says the German automaker is not in talks with Italy's Fiat about taking over its Iveco truck business.

PARIS (AP) -- Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche says the German automaker is not in talks with Italy's Fiat about taking over its Iveco truck business.

But Zetsche wouldn't rule out the possibility.

He told reporters at the Paris auto show Thursday no talks are on with Fiat about a Iveco deal and said Daimler doesn't plan to return to the farm vehicle business.

Daimler AG is one of the world's biggest truck manufacturers, and reports of such a hookup emerged after Fiat shareholders approved the spinoff of the industrial unit from its car business.

Fiat Industrial is expected to launch in January.
