Honeywell: EU Regulators Clear Sperian Deal

Manufacturer said Thursday that European regulators cleared its pending $1.1 billion acquisition of protective clothing maker Sperian Protection.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- The manufacturer Honeywell International Inc. said Thursday that European regulators cleared its pending $1.1 billion acquisition of protective clothing maker Sperian Protection.

Honeywell said the European Commission approved the deal. Honeywell started an offering for Sperian shares on July 12 and it expects the offer to close on Sept. 2. The company offered $1.1 billion in cash for Sperian in May. Sperian is based in France.

Shares of Honeywell rose a penny to $43.99 in afternoon trading.
