Sandvik Inc. said Wednesday it plans to add those jobs to its Mebane plant in the next three years and invest $85 million.
The international company received $150,000 from the state's One North Carolina Fund, a grant that encourages businesses to create new jobs in the state.
Sandvik produces high-speed cutting tools as well as stainless and high-alloy specialty steel products. It operates 78 manufacturing facilities in 59 countries. Its Mebane plant currently has 160 employees.
Mebane is located about 20 miles north of Chapel Hill.
