Mercedes-Benz Sales Up 8.4 Percent

German automaker Daimler said Mercedes-Benz U.S. sales were up 8.4 percent from February 2009, and up 24 percent on a year-to-date basis.

NEW YORK -- German automaker Daimler AG said Tuesday it sold 15,827 Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles in the U.S. in February.

Mercedes-Benz USA said U.S. sales were up 8.4 percent from February 2009, and up 24 percent on a year-to-date basis. Mercedes sales were led by strong sales of its sporty C-Class, which were up 6.4 percent from February 2009.

The Mercedes E-Class also saw sales jump, rising 92.2 percent from February 2009.

smart USA said sales rose nearly 60 percent from January 2010. The smart USA division includes the smart fortwo.
