Lawsuit Settled Over Miss. Paper Mill Blast

Two brothers injured in a deadly explosion at an International Paper Co. mill in Mississippi have agreed to settle their federal lawsuit.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Two brothers injured in a deadly explosion at an International Paper Co. mill in Mississippi have agreed to settle their federal lawsuit.

David and Darren Clark of Mooresville, N.C., agreed to the deal in a joint motion with IP filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Mississippi.

Terms weren't disclosed.

The Clarks were injured when a recovery boiler exploded at the Redwood plant in 2008. One man was killed and nearly two dozen hurt.

The proposed settlement would also release from liability their employer, Cumming, Ga.-based RMR Mechanical Inc., and Zurich American Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Swiss insurance giant Zurich Financial Services.

The brothers' lawyers and an IP spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to messages.
