Turkey Orders 20 Airbus A320 Jets

Airbus said Turkish Airlines ordered 20 A320 jets to expand service on its domestic and regional routes in a deal worth up to $1.5 billion.

PARIS (AP) -- Turkish Airlines has ordered 20 of Airbus SAS' single-aisle A320 jets to expand service on its domestic and regional routes, the European planemaker said in a statement Tuesday.

The jets have a list price of $76.9 million each, giving the deal a potential value of $1.5 billion. Airlines typically negotiate discounts on large orders.

Turkish Airlines is Turkey's national carrier, with its hub at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport. The airline operates a fleet of 133 aircraft, including 67 Airbus jets.
