Textron To Build Armored Vehicles For Colombia

Company landed a $45.6 million contract to build 39 armored personnel carriers for Colombian army; work will be performed at Textron plants in New Orleans and Slidell, La.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Textron Inc. has landed a $45.6 million contract to build 39 armored personnel carriers for the Colombian army.

The work will be performed at Textron Marine & Land Systems plants in New Orleans and Slidell. The company already has produced more than 2,400 armored personnel carriers and armored security vehicles for the U.S. Army, Iraq and Bulgaria.

The vehicles intended for Colombia will be equipped with either a machine gun or grenade launcher.
