Navistar Buys Continental Mfg.

Maker of heavy trucks, buses and recreational vehicles bought Continental Mfg. Company Inc., a privately held manufacturer of concrete mixers.

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Navistar International Corp. said Monday it bought Continental Mfg. Company Inc., a privately held manufacturer of concrete mixers.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Navistar, whose subsidiaries make heavy trucks, buses and recreational vehicles, said Continental will operate independently with manufacturing operations in Houston.

Navistar said it will distribute mixers through some of its International truck dealers.

Continental makes rear-discharge mixers sold under the CBMW name and sells parts for all mixers.

Navistar shares rose 26 cents to $33.02 in midday trading.
