L-3 Gets $203 Million Aircraft Order

Defense contractor L-3 Communications Holdings received a $203 million order for seven additional aircraft from the U.S. Army and Air Force Joint Cargo Aircraft program.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Defense contractor L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. said Monday it received a $203 million order for seven additional aircraft from the U.S. Army and Air Force Joint Cargo Aircraft program.

The January 2009 order brings the current contract total to 13 aircraft. L-3 is the prime contractor for the project and leads a team that includes Alenia Aeronautica, Rolls Royce, Honeywell International Inc. and Dowty.

The first two C-27J aircraft have been delivered and crew training is under way. The program continues to progress on schedule and on budget, L-3 said.

L-3 shares fell $1.25 to $71.66 in morning trading.
