Banks Won't Accept Monaco Coach Paychecks

Since the Coburg, Ore., RV maker declared bankruptcy last week, some of the workers say banks won't take their final paychecks.

COBURG, Ore. (AP) -- Getting laid off by Monaco Coach after being furloughed for months was bad enough. But since the Coburg RV maker declared bankruptcy last week, some of the workers say banks won't take their final paychecks.

Monaco representative Craig Wanicheck confirmed that banks were not honoring the checks since the company filed for bankruptcy last Thursday. It laid off about 2,000 workers.

He told KVAL-TV in Eugene that the company has asked the courts and banks to release enough money to cover the checks.

He said he does not know how many employees are affected.
