BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- South-central Kentuckians are showing their support for the U.S. auto industry.
More than 1,000 people showed up to demonstrate recently at General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly Plant. They were there to voice their shared opinion that the federal government needs to back up the industry.
Bowling Green's Daily News reports that GM employees, retirees, local officials and others were at the plant on Tuesday to show their backing for $25 billion in federal money. Some experts say the funds are necessary to help keep the company from filing for bankruptcy or closing by the end of this year.
GM's national manufacturing manager says company officials are not considering closing the Bowling Green plant, where the company's iconic Corvette is made.
