Bombardier Receives $349M Order From Swedish SJ AB

Swedish state railway SJ AB is adding 20 four-car Bombardier Regina high-speed trains to its fleet, in a contract worth $349 million.

BERLIN (AP) -- Bombardier Transportation said Thursday that Swedish state railway SJ AB is adding 20 four-car Bombardier Regina high-speed trains to its fleet, in a contract worth 221 million euros (US$349 million).

The Berlin-headquartered train-equipment division of Bombardier Inc. said delivery is set for mid-2010, and the contract includes an option on 20 additional trains.

Bombardier Transportation, which has 1,600 employees in Sweden, said about 70 Regina trains are already running or on order in Scandinavia.

Project management and lead engineering for the new trains will be done in Vasteras, Sweden, where the power system will be manufactured, while the vehicles will be assembled at Bombardier's Hennigsdorf factory in Germany.
