BERLIN (AP) -- Siemens AG said Thursday that it has won an order worth more than euro1.4 billion (US$2.1 billion) to supply trains to Belgium's state-owned railway, SNCB.
The 305 trains are scheduled for delivery between 2011 and 2016, Siemens said in a statement.
The Munich-based industrial conglomerate said it was ''the biggest order Siemens has ever received in the rolling stock sector.''
The trains can carry 280 passengers and have a top speed of 160 kph (100 mph), Siemens said. The company plans to build them at its plant in Krefeld, Germany.
