Trex To Shed 30 Jobs

Maker of composite decking and fencing will cut jobs from R&D and manufacturing to help lower costs.

WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) — Trex Co., which makes composite decking and fencing, said Friday it cut about 30 jobs to help lower costs.

The cuts came from the company's corporate headquarters, research and development facility as well as manufacturing plants in Fernley, Nev., and Winchester, Va.

The company said the job eliminations will result in a first-quarter charge of about $475,000 for severance payments and about $3.5 million in annual savings.

President and Chief Executive Ronald Kaplan said in a statement that Trex plans to implement other unspecified measures to trim costs and increase productivity.
