Glass Manufacturer Acquires Townsend Glass

Susquehanna Glass acquires Long Island, N.Y. manufacturer known for its custom awards, bowls, vases and other high-end glassware.

Columbia, PA —Walter R. Rowen, President of Susquehanna Glass, announces the acquisition of Townsend Glass Inc. of Long Island City, New York.

Townsend Glass manufactures and sells high-end decorated glassware and giftware. Townsend Glass has made custom products for Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, the National Cathedral, Al Roker, Presidents George H. Bush and William Clinton, Harvard University, as well as a host of museums, universities, nonprofit organizations, jewelers, country clubs and yacht clubs.

Townsend Glass is best known for extra-deep etching of custom products including awards, bowls and vases, as well as hand-made hot glass figurines.

Susquehanna Glass is best known for personalization programs for companies including Williams-Sonoma, Restoration Hardware, David's Bridal and Neiman-Marcus, as well as over 400 wineries. Susquehanna Glass employs 37 workers in Columbia, Pennsylvania.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. None of the six employees of Townsend Glass, which include the owner and mostly part-time workers, will be transferred to Columbia.
